FAQ
Q: What ages do I treat?
A: From newborn upwards.

Q: Will it be uncomfortable for my baby?
A: Baby and child osteopathy is very gentle, and if there is any sign the baby is unhappy I stop or adjust my techniques. As the parent you are in control, and I will be guided by you.

Q: What does a neonatal check involved?
A: I will take a full history of the pregnancy and delivery; including a thorough examination including reflexes, feet and hip position, and head shape. If needed I also assess the tongue.

Q: Will my baby or child need to get undressed?
A: For the initial session it is preferable to be able to see the babies body (nappies are kept on). However, some babies don’t like being without clothes, so after the initial observation clothes can be put back on to make your baby feel more settled. Young children tend to not want to undress so we work on an individual basis, again as the parent you are in charge.

Reiki is a Japanese energy healing method, its roots stretch to more than 2000 years but it was made accesible and popular by Dr Mikao Usui in the early 20th century.
The world we live in is pure energy, everything that exist is energy, as proven by Quantum Physics. This energy nourishes and maintain all living things.
When this energy flows uninterrupted, there is balance and harmony within, therefore a sence of well being. It is understood that when this flow is interrupted, Reiki can help restore balance on many levels( emotional, spiritual, mental and physical) .
There are no known contraindications to Reiki.

Benefits
Research has shown suggested benefits for pre and post surgery, mental health, fatigue and anxiety. Currently some hospitals on the NHS offer Reiki as an alternative therapy for many conditions and employ a full time Reiki practitioner.

What to expect in a treatment?
The first thing a client experiences is relaxation, which is the natural state of the human body.
A client remains fully clothed at all times and lies on a couch or sits straight on a chair and relaxes.
Usually there is a practitioner who places his/her hands non intrusively on or over the body. There is no massage or manipulation involved. It is also possible to receive Reiki at a distance.
Reiki practitioners are not trained to diagnose, therefore no diagnosis or prognosis should be given by any practitioner.
During treatment, clients may experience feelings of cold or heat, tingling, however the major benefit reported by clients is deep relaxation promoting a sense of calmness, peacefulness and wellbeing on all levels.

Counselling

Poor health can affect our mental state and our mental state can affect our health.
We often overlook this fact and focus on treating our symptoms, not always taking time to consider the underlying causes.

After a career as a professional dancer and dance teacher, Rebecca earned a Master’s Degree in Osteopathy from the European School of Osteopathy in Maidstone, Kent. In addition, she is a qualified sports massage therapist and is currently training to become a certified Infant Feeding Coach. She is passionate about empowering her clients through individualised care, compassion, and evidence-informed education. She is dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment; working with people of all ages, identities, and backgrounds to ensure everyone feels respected and valued. Rebecca enjoys continually expanding her knowledge and addressing various conditions using the full spectrum of osteopathic approaches. This includes structural techniques such as soft tissue work, joint articulation, and manipulation, as well as functional approaches, including but not limited to cranial osteopathy and visceral techniques. Her education at the European School of Osteopathy encompassed working with children, infants, and pregnant and postpartum clients. Additionally, she gained experience in the university’s specialised clinic for headaches under the guidance of Helena Bridge, who is part of the award-winning teaching team, OPHM (Osteopaths for Progress in Headaches & Migraines).

Osteopathy with Rebecca

“The role of the osteopath is to help the body help itself.” – A. T. Still

One of the important principles guiding osteopathic philosophy and treatment is the understanding that the body generally strives for healing and balance. However, at times we can become overwhelmed, and our resources depleted by stress, illness, or physical and emotional trauma—much like a cup that has reached its brim and begins to overflow. While some conditions are chronic or may complicate the healing process, osteopathic care works to support the body in its natural efforts to regulate and heal wherever possible.

Rather than ‘fixing’ you, my focus is on helping you remove the obstacles that prevent your body from supporting itself effectively. Through manual treatment and the introduction of tools for both mind and body, I aim to either assist in recovery or help manage chronic symptoms—allowing the cup to stop spilling over and restoring balance.

My approach is centred on collaboration, where we work together to make informed decisions about your care. I believe in empowering you to take an active role in your health journey, while I provide guidance and support along the way. Together, we can create a plan that reflects your needs, values, and goals, helping you take charge of your well-being with my assistance.

What can you expect from an initial osteopathic consultation with Rebecca?

First I will take a case history based on your presenting complaint followed by asking questions about your general health. After that I will examine your body based on what I think may be the cause of your discomfort. I will then formulate a working diagnosis according to the examination findings and treat and give advice correspondingly.

Depending on your complaint and medical background the case history and examination can take up the majority of an initial appointment. This is to discuss your management options and make sure you are safe to treat. The examination itself is supported by osteopathic as well as orthopaedic reasoning and assessment. In order to make examination and treatment as comfortable as possible for you it is best to wear relaxed clothing. Depending on your complaint I may ask you to remove your top or trousers if you are comfortable doing so. Wearing a sports bra or shorts can help maintain your modesty during the treatment.
